Forget Design Thinking and Try Hybrid Thinking (BY Dev Patnaik)
I found this article very interesting especially now that I am working on my BTAD. I always wanted to be an Architect; I wanted to have a BA in architecture and a MA also in architecture, but while talking to my mentor who is an artist, an architect, and now a specification writer in architecture, he advice to me that it would be smart to diversify my career. He explain that if I had my BA in one profession and my MA in a different profession, I would be keeping my options open to different fields and therefore a broader chance for opportunity. I think that the BTAD is a good choice because is a more general degree which does not limit me to only one type of job. I agree with Patnaik when she says that “The secret isn’t design thinking, it’s “hybrid thinking” Right now I am working for a telecommunications company reviewing contractors works on antennas that are built, and although this job might not have much to do with architecture, I am able to have a better understanding of the review because I can read the autoCAD drawings of the antennas and I can understand the language that goes with the drawings.
